INTERVIEW - I'm feeling privileged to have Michael DeMaria, whose latest CD ("Ocean") was reviewed in issue #96, as our interviewee for this issue.  This is one of the deepest and revealing interviews we have ever published... after you read it, be sure to spread the word to lots of other folks about it, please!

Zzaj-rant, featuring LIVE SHOW review of NW artists Shelly Ely, Terry Jay, Billy & Martin (at Liquid Soul Cafe)

Evermore exciting MUSIC reviews  (over 20 splendid new reviews - there's even a review of underground/indie stalwart Dan Susnara's brand-new 2-CD set)

In Issue # 98 (& later):

More fine interviews (jazz legend Mike Longo is up next) & music reviews with today's energy "shakers & movers"

NOTE:  We are now back in our home at 5308 65th Avenue SE, Lacey, WA 98513 - so, please send ALL materiel for review to the Lacey address - that's Zzaj Productions, c/o Dick Metcalf, 5308 65th Avenue SE, Lacey, WA 98513!  Please use zzajunique@hotmail.com for all inquiries!

We don't take poetry submissions by snail; please e-mail poetry submissions to zzajunique@hotmail.com  - but DO email us anything you have you would like published - we are sorely in need of more poetry, as some of our previous submissions got "lost" when my HD crashed last month.

Hi, all!

I have a TON of solo trax, basically just percussion and keyboards, that I'd like to load up at REVERBNATION & offer for collaboration. It would start off with 10 or 20... you tap in, listen, download what you think you want to work with, put your own dubs on top or around it, then load them back up. I would be the final decision point for what went as "the best" of the trax (since they started with me, I think I can be the one who says that).

My question to the Creatives out there is: are there any of you out there who would be interested in collaborating that way? Let me know by putting a comment in on this blog, please. If I get more than 5 or so comments, I will start loading the trax up tomorrow or early next week.

Of course, if I don't get any responses, you'll get to hear the solo sketches anyway.

Just email me at zzajunique@hotmail.com if you're interested in this collaborative project!

Testimonials:

Long-time reader and musician Dave Fuglewicz:  I.N. was one of the first 'zines to respond to my work. It was a great 'zine way back then and has maintained the highest of standards every step of the way. 'Zines have come and gone, some with great fanfare, some with quiet aplomb, but few can match the Zzaj for the dedication and fortitude it takes to keep cranking it out. Diversity and ... originality are recognized and applauded, that, in my opinion has always been one of I.N.'s greatest "traits". Number 93 brings us all ever closer to the magical 100th issue. I highly recommend a visit and a read. Y'all get there now. :-)

Music promoter Ann Braithwaite's followon to Dave's comment:  Couldn't agree with you more, Dave. And have you heard Dick's music? Great!!
